Q: What is Walk for Nepal - Dallas?
A: Walk for Nepal Dallas is an annual fund-raising campaign of Nepal Rising/Daayitwa US and designed to bring Nepalese communities in DFW and around the world and friends of Nepal together. Since its inception in 2012, Walk for Nepal Dallas has raised over $100K and provided those funds to organizations working in education, health and wellness, child and senior care, and other various sectors in Nepal.
Q: Why is Walk for Nepal 2020 in July instead of November 2020?
A: Due to continued increase in COVID-19 cases in Nepal and need for immediate help, we decided to hold this year’s Walk for Nepal event event in July rather than waiting until November in order to provide funds for COVID-19 relief in Nepal immediately.
Q: What is a virtual walk?
A: Due to the guidelines established by CDC and WHO, we are hosting a virtual event rather than the traditional group walk on the event day. Under this model, everyone can walk at their own pace/time throughout the Walk Week while maintaining social distance.
Q: What is ‘Walk Week’ and how does it work?
A: Walk for Nepal 2020 is a week-long event that starts at 12:01 AM CST on Monday, July 13, 2020 and ends at 11:59 PM CST on Sunday, July 19, 2020. All registered walkers and sponsors are encouraged to walk throughout the Walk Week and share their pictures/posts on Facebook and other social media. We will host various virtual activities on Sunday, July 19 to wrap up Walk for Nepal 2020.
Q: Is Walk for Nepal 2020 a global event?
A: Yes, given this is a virtual event, we are not limiting Walk for Nepal 2020 to Dallas and encouraging everyone from around the world to participate regardless where they are physically located.
Q: How to register/sponsor a walker?
A: People can visit www.walkfornepal.org to become a Registered Walker or sponsor a Registered Walker.
Q: What is the registration fee?
A: Registration fee is US$15.
Q: Is there a minimum amount to sponsor a Registered Walker?
A: No, there is no minimum amount, any amount is greatly appreciated.
Q: What are the payment options?
A: You can pay with a debit/credit card or using your PayPal account.
Q: Why should I participate in Walk for Nepal 2020?
A: Despite being away from Nepal, Walk for Nepal’s goal is to raise whatever funds possible and send all of the proceeds to organizations providing COVID-19 relief in Nepal while maintaining the annual tradition of bringing Nepalese communities in DFW and around the world together. Not only your participation makes this event a success, your contribution helps thousands of people who are impacted by COVID-19 in Nepal.
Q: What will the funds be used for?
A: We are dedicating this year’s walk to COVID-19 relief in Nepal. We have already provided some funds to Nepal to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and testing kits and provide food and water to stranded migrant workers returning home and people who lost their jobs due to lockdown. We are continuously monitoring the situation in Nepal and are working with various organizations with expertise in respective areas. Upon the completion of Walk for Nepal 2020, we will provide funds to help with the most urgent needs at that time.
Q: What are the prizes and how can I become a winner?
